My stories tend to get populated with characters who speak the English language with accents varying from Scottish to Mohawk. I’ve written Irish accents and Welsh accents, southern Appalachian accents, and 18th century dialects of various sorts. So it stands to reason I spend time watching instructional videos like this one, posted on YouTube by actress/singer Amy Walker.

After you watch this one (and don’t miss Part 2), head over and see what else Amy has to offer on learning to speak (for me, write) accents of all sorts. This one is a good place to start.

I find this utterly fascinating. Perhaps you will, too.

My thanks to Amarilis Iscold for alerting me to these videos!
