We had two nights at the Oregon coast. My first (more than a Sabbath) break from writing/editing in 2014. No work. No internet. No computers.
I walked in the sand. I watched the sun set. I watched my dog watch the sun set.
I took pictures of rocks. And of my husband.
I finished reading two books. It was nice.
Now I’m back and finding my place in the work in progress, which I set aside a month ago to tackle the content edits for The Wood’s Edge. I spent today reading back through the last three or so chapters I wrote. Ready to start writing again tomorrow!
Have you taken any trips this summer? Where have you been? What have you seen? I hope you had a chance to unplug and unwind.
It looks just lovely, Lori! And I'm so glad you had that quite time to read and take pictures of rocks and hubby. 🙂 Those truly can be the best kinds of vacations!
Me too. My goal was to walk the beaches within walking distance from our cottage rental. And finish a couple of non-research-related books. Mission accomplished!
Ahhhhhh. So restful. So pretty! Look at the sunset!
I'm glad you took some time off.
Even Dargo is appreciating that sunset! May your time off be as refreshing. 🙂
Beautiful, Lori. I have only drove through Oregon on our way moving from Texas to Spokane, WA. I remember it being very windy … but we moved in February. Driving over the mountain passes, covered in snow and ice, was so scary. That part of the country is so beautiful.
I haven't traveled this summer, but I sure have the traveling bug! I'm ready to go. We usually stay home, and travel to Florida's Disney World in February.
We moved here at the time of year (what were we thinking!) driving from the Wash DC area. It was fine until Denver, then we dodged snow and ice up into Montana (including an episode where our truck and trailer did 360s down an icy Wyoming highway), a brief stop to repair an axle, then over through Washington into Oregon and down that long corridor of I-5. We got snowed in the final time in Salem. That doesn't happen often. I've never quite gotten over that trip and don't have the courage for icy roads anymore.
Florida and Disney sound like much more fun and far less danger. 🙂 I've been there several times, before we moved west.
Just reading your post was so very relaxing. I took one trip to the beach–on the East coast–so wonderful!
