Shush! I’m readin’!
Love’s Reckoning
by Laura Frantz
From the book cover:
On a bitter December day in 1784, Silas Ballantyne arrives at the door of blacksmith Liege Lee in York County, Pennsylvania. Silas is determined to finish his apprenticeship quickly and move west. But because he is a fast worker and a superb craftsman, Liege endeavors to keep him in Lancaster by appealing to an old tradition: the apprentice shall marry one of his master’s beautiful daughters.
Eden is as gentle and fresh as Elspeth is high-spirited and cunning. But are they truly who they appear to be? In a house laced with secrets, each sister seeks to secure her future. Which one will claim Silas’s heart–and will he agree to Liege’s arrangement?
In this sweeping family saga, one man’s choices in love and work, in friends and enemies, set the stage for generations to come. This is the Ballantyne Legacy.
LOL, Lori! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that pic of you:) Bless you for buying one. I look forward to returning the favor:) I do have one for you as a thank you for putting up with me (and Silas and Eden). You're a GEM.
Can never have too many copies. Thank you! It's so lovely to have the story between these beautiful covers. I still like how the background reminds me of 18C paintings. Have you seen a hint yet of the second cover? I wonder if they will have a similar feel, even though the time period changes?
I've been fortunate to have met my cover designer last week, and had a great conversation with him about possible designs.
I have your addy so will send:) I just submitted a detailed questionaire for book 2 which will be quite different as you know since I leap to 1822. Love that this one reminds you of a period painting. I do hope they have a similar feel and that Brandon Hill does them all.
I am SO excited to hear more about your cover! I think it's neat that you have a male designer, too. WB's covers are some of the best out there!
The second one will be the first of your books I haven't read ahead of time since Morrow. π
The covers I know my designer has worked on are the Aurelia books by Jeffrey Overstreet.
Lori, I LOVE this picture. And I cannot WAIT to get a glimpse at your book cover! π
Me either! π
I think I'll make this a regular feature here on the old blog. A quick and fun way to give a shout out to the books I'm reading. Only it wouldn't work too well with the Kindle books. I have a Kindle for PC now and read from that while I'm biking. Just one more reason to stick with printed books!
Lori – The pic is almost a review in itself!
I can't wait to dig into Laura's new book – love her work.

Oh good. I feared I looked a little grumpy. I was feeling anything but!
Or maybe it's the antagonist in this one. I just want to THROTTLE her!
That's not fair!! My Kindle copy hasn't been delivered yet!! And wouldn't you know, we're down here in TN for the weekend, and I left my Kindle at home. Hey…maybe when I get back, it'll be on my carousel!
Amazon was funny this time. I received the book two days before I got the email saying they anticipated sending it earlier than they previously thought they would.
Oh, I forgot to mention, Lori, I love that pic of you too! It really captures your spirit. π
